Xanadu Soundtrack Japanese Vintage Vinyl
The 1980 musical Xanadu may be remembered as a cult film, but its soundtrack was a genuine smash. Olivia Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra each took one half of the album, and the result is a glittering blend of roller-disco pop and Jeff Lynne's lush, orchestral rock.
Olivia's half opens with "Magic", her chart-topping hit, and includes duets with Cliff Richard on "Suddenly", The Tubes on "Dancin'" and Gene Kelly on "Whenever You're Away From Me". ELO deliver "I'm Alive" and "All Over The World" before both acts join forces on the soaring title track, a number one in the UK.
This is the Japanese edition on Jet Records, catalogue 25AP 1900, in a gatefold jacket. Japanese pressings from this era are known for quiet vinyl and careful presentation, and the gatefold artwork really shines at full size.
Pure fun for any ELO or Olivia collection.
