The Sisters of Mercy at their rawest: three BBC radio sessions cut between 1982 and 1984, collected on one unauthorized vinyl record. The first, taped for John Peel in August 1982, catches the Leeds band in their early drum machine and fuzz phase, tearing through The Stooges' "1969" alongside "Alice", "Good Things" and "Floorshow". The 1983 session for David "Kid" Jensen is the sound of the group getting bigger, with "Heartland", "Valentine", "Burn" and a stark reading of Dolly Parton's "Jolene". The final Peel session from June 1984 previews material that would shape First and Last and Always, including "No Time To Cry" and "Walk Away".

Recorded live in the studio with no overdubs to hide behind, these versions run leaner and faster than the released singles, and for many listeners they are the definitive early Sisters.
