Royal Blood's debut is a masterclass in doing a lot with very little. Mike Kerr plays a bass rigged through guitar and bass amps at once, Ben Thatcher hits the drums like he is being paid by the decibel, and that is the entire band. Out Of The Black and Little Monster sound like a four piece, and Figure It Out has one of the best riffs of the 2010s. Released in 2014, the album went straight to number one in the UK and pulled a generation of listeners back toward loud, blues based rock. There is no studio trickery hiding the arrangements, which is exactly why it works so well on vinyl. This 180 gram pressing keeps the bass tone thick without smearing the kick drum.
