Mojave 3's sophomore album, Out of Tune, marked the moment the band found its full stride. Released in 1998 on 4AD, it was born out of a communal living experiment on a Cornwall farm, where Neil Halstead, Ian McCutcheon, and new members Simon Rowe (of Chapterhouse) and Alan Forrester built a studio in a cowshed and demoed songs together.

Recorded at Cava Studios in Glasgow and shaped through a long process of remixing and layering pedal steel and brass, the album is brighter and more confident than its predecessor. "Who Do You Love" and "Some Kinda Angel" lean into warm, country-rock grooves, while "All Your Tears" and "To Whom Should I Write" show a growing sophistication in Halstead's songwriting. The result sounds closer to Neil Young and Gram Parsons than anything resembling Slowdive.

A polished, sun-warmed record from a band hitting its creative peak.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
