Reanimation is a remix album that behaves like a proper record. Rather than hand Hybrid Theory to radio producers, Linkin Park gave it to underground hip hop and electronic artists including Aceyalone, Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch, Jonathan Davis and Evidence, then let them tear the songs apart. Pts.Of.Athrty becomes a glitching synth workout, Kyur4 Th Ich becomes something close to trip hop, and Frgt/10 arguably improves on the original. It sold millions on the strength of an idea most bands would have handled as a cash grab. Spread across two LPs, the bass heavy production has room to move in a way the CD never allowed. A worthwhile pick for anyone who wants the deeper, weirder side of the band's catalog.
