The Tour of Life was the only concert tour Kate Bush ever mounted, and it ended with a run of nights at the Hammersmith Odeon in May 1979. She would not tour again for thirty-five years, which is why recordings from these shows carry the weight they do. Nothing about the production was conventional: wireless headset microphone, choreography built into every song, costume and lighting changes treated as part of the music rather than decoration around it.

The set draws on The Kick Inside and Lionheart, and the songs behave differently on a stage. "James and the Cold Gun" turns into full theatre, "Wow" and "Hammer Horror" lean into the drama the studio versions only suggest, and "Kite" and "Feel It" sit closer and quieter. It closes where it has to, with "Wuthering Heights" and a room that already knew every word.

Pressed for collectors who want the tour documented on vinyl rather than on video. If you care about Bush as a performer and not only as a studio architect, this is the period to hear.
