1985: The Miracle Year is Numero Group's four-LP live box from Hüsker Dü, here in the Find Me white vinyl edition. 1985 was the year Bob Mould, Grant Hart and Greg Norton released New Day Rising and Flip Your Wig and toured relentlessly, and this set captures them at full gallop.
The first two records are the complete January 30, 1985 show at First Avenue in Minneapolis, restored by Beau Sorenson from tapes that survived the 2011 house fire that destroyed much of the band's archive. Outside it was 11 below; inside, 1,500 people watched the trio tear through songs from Zen Arcade and New Day Rising, preview five Flip Your Wig tracks, and cover "Eight Miles High", "Ticket To Ride" and "Helter Skelter" with Soul Asylum's Dave Pirner. Numero calls these perhaps the highest fidelity recordings of the band's SST years.
The second pair of records adds 20 more live tracks from across the year's tours, and a 36-page book tells the story of those twelve months. An essential piece of American punk history for any serious collection.
