May 1968 caught Pink Floyd at their most precarious moment. Syd Barrett had left the band only weeks earlier, David Gilmour was still the new arrival, and nobody yet knew whether the group could survive the change. This unauthorized release captures their broadcast from the First International European Pop Festival at the Piper Club in Rome on May 6, 1968.
What you hear is the band improvising its way into a new identity. Astronomy Domine and Interstellar Overdrive were Barrett-era pieces, but stretched out here they become vehicles for the drifting, patient playing that would define the next few years. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun points directly at where Waters was taking the writing. A short Roger Waters interview closes the record and dates the whole thing precisely.
Cut at 45RPM. A document of the four-week window when Pink Floyd could have ended and instead began again.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.
If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.
