Fatboy Slim is just one of DJ Norman Cook's many alter egos, but it's become his most successful yet. In 1997 he found international fame with the re-release of Better Living Through Chemistry. The Chemical Brothers pushed Cook to make "Going Out of My Head" the album's first single, which also had an alluring video and sampled Who's classic "I Can't Explain." For the track "Michael Jackson," Fatboy Slim masterfully used a snippet from Negativland. Another noteworthy song is "The Weekend Starts Here," which boasts distant organs and an echoing harmonica sound — similar to the opening of Black Sabbath's "The Wizard." This classic album is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys the '90s blend of techno and sampled alternative dance.
