It's been 37 years since The Knitters, the original Alt-Country band comprised of three members of X, one Blaster and a Red Devil, released their debut album Poor Little Critter on the Road. In 1985, Exene Cervenka, John Doe, DJ Bonebrake, Dave Alvin, and Jonny Ray Bartel joined forces to create a critically acclaimed sound that Alvin described as "if Sun Records, Lead Belly, and the Carter Family dropped LSD and made a record together."
