Winter brought Big Thief to Manhattan's Power Station, where a collective of musicians—including Laraaji on zither, Joshua Crumbly on bass, and core members Adrianne, Buck, and James—spent three weeks creating Double Infinity. Recorded in a storied wooden room, the album captures nine hours daily of collaborative improvisation, live tape loops, and layered vocals, all shaped by longtime producer Dom Monks. This departure from Big Thief's previous sound explores duality: inner and outer worlds, loss and desire, what fades and what forms. The album contemplates beauty, time, and the unchanging essence beneath life's constant flux—a meditation on presence amid the brain's tendency to dwell in past and future.
