The world of rock music has seen many anti-heroes over the years, and Black Mountain is the latest addition to the list. In the past, Can's Tago Mago album established the idea that there are no rules in rock and roll. Pink Floyd's prolific output in the 1970s showed us that even architecture can be cool. Meanwhile, Black Sabbath, the iconic proto-metallers, demonstrated that you can create something great with very little. Now, Black Mountain has taught us that you need not fear the past to move boldly into the future, and has redefined what it means to be a classic rock band in the modern era. Today, the band has announced their fourth album, aptly named "IV". This is an unapologetically ambitious record made by a group of musicians who are currently at the peak of their powers.
