Bang! won World Party a Brit Award nomination and remains Karl Wallinger's most fully realized album. Released in 1993, it carries Is It Like Today?, a song about human history and self destruction wrapped in one of the prettiest melodies of the decade. Wallinger left The Waterboys to make records essentially alone, playing nearly everything himself in the studio and drawing openly on Beatles and Prince influences without ever sounding like a pastiche. Give It All Away and Kingdom Come are as good as anything on Goodbye Jumbo. Robbie Williams later took She's The One to number one, which brought Wallinger overdue royalties and belated attention. This white vinyl pressing makes a long overlooked album easy to find again.
