Shins, The - Wincing The Night Away Vinyl Record
Wincing the Night Away is the third album from The Shins, released by Sub Pop in January 2007 and the moment James Mercer’s band went from beloved indie secret to a debut at number two on the Billboard 200.
Recorded in Mercer’s basement studio, at Phil Ek’s place in Seattle and in Oregon City with producer Joe Chiccarelli, it keeps the bright, unforgettable melodies of Oh, Inverted World and Chutes Too Narrow but stretches them in new directions. “Sea Legs” rides a loping, hip-hop influenced beat, “Sleeping Lessons” builds from shimmering keys into a thunderous finish, and “Phantom Limb” borrows the fuzz-toned sweep of early Jesus and Mary Chain. “Australia” and “Turn On Me” deliver the effortless, hooky indie pop that made fans fall for the band in the first place.
Richer, stranger and more ambitious than anything they had made before, it remains a defining indie rock record of the 2000s and an essential pressing for any Shins fan. Give it a spin on your turntable.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.
Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.
If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.
After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.
Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
