Pocket Full of Kryptonite introduced the Spin Doctors to the world in 1991, and the New York City band's debut hasn't lost a step. "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" were the massive singles (peaking at #7 and #17 on the Billboard Hot 100), but the album runs much deeper than its radio hits.
"Jimmy Olsen's Blues" kicks things off with a Superman metaphor, a slinky groove, and Chris Barron's elastic vocals at their most playful. "What Time Is It?" digs into a funky jam, "Forty or Fifty" features Eric Schenkman on piano alongside a swinging arrangement, and John Popper (yes, that John Popper) drops harmonica on "Off My Line" and "More Than She Knows." The whole thing wraps with "Shinbone Alley / Hard to Exist," a sprawling two-part closer. Loose, hooky, and full of personality from front to back.
