Few bands have sounded quite like Morphine. On their second album, Cure for Pain, released in 1993, Mark Sandman's two-string slide bass, Dana Colley's baritone saxophone and understated drumming from Jerome Deupree and Billy Conway combine into a smoky, minimalist sound the band called "low rock." There is barely a guitar in sight, yet the grooves hit harder than most rock records of the era.

"Buena" and "Thursday" stalk along on hypnotic bass lines, the title track is a wry, late-night meditation, and "In Spite of Me" turns surprisingly tender. "Sheila" and "In Spite of Me" also turned up on the soundtrack of the 1994 independent film Spanking the Monkey, introducing the Boston trio to a wider audience.

This Dutch import from Music On Vinyl is pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl and includes a 4-page insert. A must for fans of noir-tinged alternative rock.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
