Pressed on light blue vinyl across two LPs, Imaginal Disk is the 2024 album that turned Magdalena Bay from a promising synth-pop duo into one of the most talked-about acts in independent music. Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin wrote and produced every minute of it themselves at their home studio in Los Angeles, mostly from sketches started in the gaps between tours, and released it through Mom+Pop.

The music keeps one foot in a synthetic future and one in the seventies and nineties, pulling from prog, psychedelia, bubblegum pop and studio-rock ambition in the same breath. It follows a character named True as she works out what being human means after a consciousness upgrade gets slotted into her forehead, borrowing its title from the imaginal discs that let a caterpillar dissolve itself and rebuild as a butterfly.

Four sides give the sequencing room to breathe. A striking edition to add to the shelf.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
