LCD Soundsystem - the long goodbye (lcd soundsystem live at madison square garden) - 5LP

On April 2, 2011, LCD Soundsystem played what was meant to be their final show, a marathon celebration at New York's Madison Square Garden. The Long Goodbye is the complete, unabridged recording: 28 songs spanning the band's entire catalogue, from "Dance Yrself Clean" to a closing "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down."

James Murphy, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang, Al Doyle, Gavilán Rayna Russom and Tyler Pope are joined by a choir plus string and horn sections, with guest turns from Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, Reggie Watts, The Juan MacLean and Planningtorock. Highlights include towering versions of "All My Friends," "Someone Great" and "Losing My Edge."

For the tenth anniversary, DFA and Parlophone repressed the set in its original five-LP configuration on 140g vinyl. It is the definitive document of a band at its peak and a joyous night that dance-punk fans still talk about. A centrepiece for any LCD collection.
