American Fool is the 1982 album that made John Cougar a household name. Produced by Don Gehman with Cougar himself, it reached number one on the Billboard 200 and held the top spot for nine weeks.

"Jack & Diane", his little ditty about two American kids, went to number one, while "Hurts So Good" reached number two and won him a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. "Hand To Hold Onto" added another hit, and songs like "Danger List", "Thundering Hearts" and "Weakest Moments" show the Midwestern grit, driven by Kenny Aronoff's drumming, that carried him through the decade.

This is the Japanese edition on Riva, catalogue P-11217, made by Warner-Pioneer. Japanese pressings from the early 1980s are valued for their quiet vinyl and careful quality control, which lets the punchy drums and ringing guitars come through clearly.

A heartland rock essential for any classic rock collection.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
