By 1985 Howard Jones had a problem most synth-pop acts would envy: his extended mixes were as sought after as the singles themselves. 12"ers Vol. 2 gathers the second run of them, and it is the better volume of the pair. The extended "Things Can Only Get Better" stretches the hook out over a longer sequencer build, "Hide And Seek" gets room to breathe, and "You Jazzy Nork!" is the kind of instrumental B-side oddity that only turned up on 12-inch pressings. Jones programmed most of it himself, which is why it still sounds like one person's record rather than a remixer's.
Warner-Pioneer assembled and printed this edition in Japan under licence from WEA, catalogue P-6220. The Japanese edition is the only place these six 12-inch mixes were collected onto a single album, and it was issued with a printed insert that the European pressings did not carry.
