Hop Along - Painted Shut - Vinyl Record
Painted Shut is the 2015 album that brought Hop Along to a wider audience, their second full-length and first for Saddle Creek. What began as Frances Quinlan's solo freak-folk project had grown into a fully fleshed-out band, propelled by Mark Quinlan's drums, Tyler Long's bass and Joe Reinhart's guitar. Produced, recorded and mixed by John Agnello in Philadelphia and New York, it came together faster than anything they had made before.
Quinlan's captivating songwriting weaves vivid stories of longing and realization, delivered in a voice that can soar, crack and snarl within a single verse. Where Get Disowned featured surreal, anthemic characters, Painted Shut takes a closer, harsher look at struggling unknowns, including jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden and folk singer Jackson C. Frank. "The Knock" opens with a bang, "Waitress" is a quiet standout, and "Horseshoe Crabs" and "Sister Cities" hit with real emotional force.
A modern indie rock classic, and a perfect entry point to one of Philadelphia's finest bands.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.
After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.
Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
