Hiroshi Miyagawa wrote the sweeping orchestral music behind the Space Battleship Yamato saga, and Be Forever Yamato is his score for the 1980 feature film, the third big-screen chapter of the anime classic. This first volume of the soundtrack music collection follows the story from the Dark Nebula Empire's attack on Earth to the Yamato's voyage into a strange new galaxy.

Conducted by Hiroshi Kumagai, the score sets lush strings against a tight studio rhythm section, moving from tense battle cues to tender love themes. The centrepiece is the three-part "Sasha (Mio)" suite, built around the film's young heroine.

This is the original 1980 Japanese release on Nippon Columbia, catalogue CQ-7051. Anime soundtrack LPs of this era were made for devoted fans, and Japanese originals are the ones collectors look for.

A fine find for anime and film score collectors.
