Father John Misty- Fear Fun - Vinyl Record
Fear Fun is the 2012 album where Josh Tillman stepped out from behind the Fleet Foxes drum kit and became Father John Misty. Released on Sub Pop, it swapped the hushed folk of his earlier solo records for something looser, funnier and far more theatrical, setting up the persona he has built on ever since.
The songs draw on 70s Laurel Canyon country rock, Harry Nilsson’s wry crooning and a streak of psychedelic haze, all held together by Tillman’s big, warm voice. “Funtimes in Babylon” opens with a sly, sunburnt shuffle, “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” brings the swagger, and “Nancy From Now On” became an instant fan favourite. Lyrically it is absurd, self-mocking and surprisingly tender, a sharp, literate record about pleasure, excess and starting over in Los Angeles.
A cornerstone of 2010s indie folk and the starting point for one of the decade’s most distinctive songwriters, it belongs in any collection next to I Love You, Honeybear. Add it to your shelf today.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
