The Memory Of Trees followed Shepherd Moons and won Enya her second Grammy, and many listeners consider it her strongest full album. Released in 1995, it is built the way all her records are, with Enya performing every vocal and keyboard part herself, Nicky Ryan producing and layering, and Roma Ryan writing lyrics in English, Irish and Latin. Anywhere Is is the single, an unusually bright and rhythmic piece for her, while China Roses and Hope Has A Place sit in the still, reverberant space she made her own. Pax Deorum is closer to choral music than pop. On vinyl the enormous vocal stacks have real depth rather than the flatness of digital compression.
