Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You - Vinyl Record 2LP

Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You is Big Thief's sprawling 2022 double album on 4AD. Over five months, Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek, Max Oleartchik and James Krivchenia travelled to four very different places to record: upstate New York, Topanga Canyon, the Colorado Rockies and Tucson, Arizona. From roughly 45 songs, they chose twenty.

Produced by Krivchenia, the album moves freely between styles. There is the fiddle-driven hoedown of "Spud Infinity," the hushed folk of "Change" and "Certainty," the restless electronics of "Blurred View" and the joyous roar of "Little Things" and "Simulation Swarm." Lenker's writing holds it all together, tender and strange and deeply human, and the result feels less like a collection than a document of a band living and growing together.

Laid out across four sides, it is a record that rewards an evening of listening from start to finish.
