Bailter Space's Wammo is the New Zealand noise-rock trio at their most relentless and hypnotic. Originally released in 1995 on Matador Records, the album delivers walls of distorted guitar, pounding rhythms, and Alister Parker's buried-in-the-mix vocals across songs that feel like machines grinding at full throttle — beautiful, abrasive, and utterly locked in.
Emerging from the legendary Christchurch scene alongside The Clean and the Gordons, Bailter Space carved out their own corner of dense, industrial-tinged rock that anticipated post-rock's fascination with texture and repetition. Wammo is the purest distillation of that vision. This reissue — pressed on limited transparent orange vinyl with newly remastered audio from the original session reels — is part of Matador's Revisionist History campaign alongside reissues from Pavement, Yo La Tengo, and Guided by Voices. Back in print for the first time in 25 years.
