In 2001, Sufjan Stevens initiated an ambitious project to craft a Christmas gift for the people he loved. The resulting product was Noel Vol. 1, a magnificent 7-track EP. Over the subsequent Christmases, Sufjan added new EPs to the collection, completing an extraordinary gift that continues to provide joy every year.
As he crafted Peace : Volume V (in 2006's summertime), Sufjan thought carefully about how he wanted to share it with the world. He was adamant that the EPs should be devotedly presented with all of their "flaws, blemishes, mistakes and all", instead of a watered-down compilation or a daunting “Greatest Hits” selection. As well as the music, the boxset was bestowed with a luxurious display of decorations to celebrate the essence of the Christmas season. You'll find essays, a short story, chords & lyrics, photos, a family portrait, and wishes for a Happy Xmas inside!
