Go-Betweens, The - Tallulah - Vinyl Record

Tallulah, the Go-Betweens' fifth album, arrived in 1987 with a new member who changed everything. Multi-instrumentalist Amanda Brown brought violin, oboe and keyboards into the band, adding drama and depth to the sound Robert Forster and Grant McLennan had built over four records. 

The result is a pivotal album, a stepping stone between their early, spikier indie sensibility and the richly textured arrangements of their later work. McLennan delivers two of his most infectious should-have-been hits in "Right Here" and "Bye Bye Pride," while Forster counters with the sharp, wry "The House That Jack Kerouac Built" and the haunting character study "The Clarke Sisters," a masterclass in observational songwriting. Paste has named it among the best new-wave albums.

This pressing features the 2019 remaster first heard in the G Stands For Go-Betweens Volume Two box, now on its own on vinyl for the first time in more than three decades. Pair it with 16 Lovers Lane to hear the band hit their stride.
