Fountains of Youth captures the Go-Betweens live at London's Town and Country Club on 10 May 1987, just weeks before the release of Tallulah. Robert Forster has said it is almost certainly the only show of the band's career captured on 24-track, 2-inch analog tape, recorded from a mobile truck parked beside the venue's stage door.

Knowing they had four sides of vinyl to fill, the band took a more adventurous approach to the set. Forster calls it "not only a one-off recording, but a one-off show," and the running order proves it: fresh Tallulah songs like "Bye Bye Pride" and "Right Here" sit beside Liberty Belle favourites, deep cuts such as "Unkind and Unwise" and "Your Turn My Turn," and a long closing stretch with "Karen" and "Eight Pictures." Uncut said it "provides detailed evidence of the band's growing confidence and continuously refined songwriting."

First issued inside the G Stands For Go-Betweens Volume Two box, it now stands alone as a double LP. An essential companion to the studio albums.
