The record that launched a thousand college rock bands. Chronic Town, R.E.M.'s debut EP released on I.R.S. Records in August 1982, introduced the world to Michael Stipe's enigmatic vocals, Peter Buck's jangly Rickenbacker, Mike Mills's melodic bass, and Bill Berry's propulsive drumming — a sound that would spend the next decade rewriting the rules of American rock music.

Produced by Mitch Easter at his Drive-In Studio in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the five-track EP crackles with the restless energy of a band that already knew exactly what it wanted to be. "Wolves, Lower" and "Gardening at Night" remain cornerstones of R.E.M.'s catalogue, while "Carnival of Sorts (Boxcars)" and "1,000,000" showcase the kinetic live power that made them legends on the college circuit. This 40th anniversary picture disc features the iconic gargoyle cover on one side and a 1982 photograph of the band on the other. Pressed at 45 RPM.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
