Stereolab - Margerine Eclipse - Vinyl Record 2LP

Margerine Eclipse, from 2004, was the first album made after the death of Mary Hansen, and Stereolab responded by splitting Laetitia Sadier's harmonies hard across the stereo field so she sings with herself where the second voice used to be. It is a bright, busy, oddly joyful record given the circumstances, from the rush of "Vonal Declosion" to the long farewell of "Dear Marge." One of the most emotionally direct things in their catalogue once you know what you are listening to. This is part of Duophonic's 2LP reissue series, which brings seven Stereolab albums back to shelves using the 2019 remasters cut from the original half inch tapes by Bo Kondren at Calyx Mastering in Berlin, overseen by Tim Gane. These editions do not carry the bonus material from the discontinued 3LP versions, which keeps the price sensible. Housed in a 5mm spine sleeve with printed inners and a protective PVC outer bag.
