Zorked (adj.) - the feeling when you're zonked out from extreme bliss, or in any state where sobriety isn't part of the mix. It can hit you so hard you're zorked. And from Seattle's grey skies, singer-songwriter Julia Shapiro ventured to the bright lights and boundless potential of LA, only to face quarantine. With nowhere to be, she started crafting her second solo album, Zorked. On it, Julia paints a modern LA narrative: a slow-boiling wasteland ripe with spirits and warped memories. With no worries of noise complaints, she recorded the bulk of the album in her house studio. Her roommate Melina Duterte (Jay Som) also co-produced, pushing Julia to take her sound further. Amid overwhelming fear and doubt, she forged ahead and found strength through her music. Even as she laughed at having to say Zorked out loud, she kept it as a title - anything else would have seemed
