The Beths' hedonistic 2016 EP "Warm Blood," signed by Carpark Records in 2018 and released on vinyl for the first time, is a hidden gem. Jazz students at the University of Auckland joined together to create this brimming 5-song debut, adding a jolt of electricity to the pop-punk sounds of their childhood. Blending The Clean and The Chills' Flying Nun-style of indie rock with Slant 6 and The Breeders, the bouncy guitar riffs and ecstatic vocal harmonies on Warm Blood are an ode to The Zombies. Jonathan Pearce's expert production and masterful musicianship make this EP a relentless joyride. From the irresistibly catchy lead single "Whatever" to the supremely hook-laden "Idea/Intent" and the playful "Rush Hour 3," The Beths craft pop songs of exceptional quality.
