On her debut EP Sugar & Spice, Hatchie delivers the sonic equivalent of falling passionately in love: a sustained rush of emotions, expressed through dreamy melodies and ethereal guitar tones and hypnotic layers of sound. With her first full-length album Keepsake, the Australian singer/songwriter expands her musical horizons and ventures into industrial, new wave, and dance-pop genres, gracefully infusing each with her signature elegance and raw, emotive energy. Recorded in a home studio in Melbourne and produced by John Castle, Keepsake features a diverse collection of songs that delve into a range of emotions and experiences, from fleeting moments to life-altering events. Throughout the album, Hatchie's ever-changing sonic palette showcases her depth and creativity as a guitarist and songwriter. The lead single "Without a Blush" combines jagged guitar riffs and hazy rhythms for a haunting industrial-pop sound, while "Unwanted Guest" features wobbly synth lines and chilling spoken-word vocals.
