Mike Stroud and Evan "E*Vax" Mast truly hit the mark with their 2006 album Classics, blending catchy indie rock riffs with synth-heavy electronic beats in a way that feels just right. This album genuinely captures the essence of the mid-aughts Brooklyn indie electronic sound—before the French electro wave took over. Our vintage Lab review from when it first released captures the moment perfectly: after grooving to about half of this Ratatat album in the office, The Commish leaned over and exclaimed, "Wow, I keep expecting a whiny indie rock male vocalist to jump in! This is fantastic!" And they couldn't be more right! The duo's latest work offers a delightful listening journey from start to finish—clean, synthy, and instrumental, reminiscent of a soundtrack to a long-lost level of Castlevania or perhaps one of those quirky video game cover bands on Kill Rock Stars. You might have come across these guys (with their beards and indie rock vibes) and seen the buzz about how "infectious" and "dancey" their music is, but honestly, it’s just really enjoyable headphone music that features a steady beat and a laid-back mood. Even the single, "Wildcat" (which gives off vibes of Eli Cash), isn't overly hyped but fits perfectly into a chill mixtape or set when you want to sprinkle in some excitement. Tracks like "Swisha" showcase Ratatat's brilliance by trading any expectation of danceability for a stunning, lush spaghetti western feel. Meanwhile, "Lex" and "Tropicana" bring a touch of flair diverging from their usual subtlety. I might not be painting the best picture here, or maybe it sounds a bit dull… but trust me, it's anything but!

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.

Hold up… what were we saying?
