Magnolia Electric Co. & Jason Molina - Trials & Errors - Vinyl Record 2LP

Recorded just months after forming, Trials & Errors captures Jason Molina's new band Magnolia Electric Co in Brussels in 2003. It documents one of America's pivotal live acts evolving into something special — energizing the audience. This performance showcases Molina & Co right after he retired the Songs: Ohia identity for this new vision. The project, named after the final Songs: Ohia album, features four core members and represents their early tour stage. The band, still a four-piece, includes Pete Schreiner on drums, Mike Kapinus on bass and trumpet, and the two Jasons dueled over guitar solos: Molina's down-tuned guitar paired with his settled tenor, and Groth's Creedence-inspired rhythm guitar filling out the sound. It’s a pleasure to listen to their raw formation. Molina, as the principal songwriter, delivers classic songs fans expect from his seven Songs: Ohia albums (released between ‘96 and ‘03). With his new band, fans enjoy a stable and evolving rhythm section that intensifies with each performance. On Trials & Errors, Magnolia grinds through three old Molina favorites, three songs set for the upcoming studio album (Spring 2005), and four tracks exclusive to this live recording.
