Big Thief - Double Infinity - Green Color Vinyl Record
Winter had settled over Manhattan, creating a frozen landscape, but the band continued to ride their bicycles to the Power Station on 53rd and back to Brooklyn for three fruitful weeks. These few weeks would herald the birth of Double Infinity - an album that beautifully departs from Big Thief’s previous works. In a cozy wooden room where Bruce once stood, a vibrant community of musicians gathered, tracking together in harmony, improvising arrangements, and making exciting discoveries as a group.
Laraaji enchanted everyone with drones from his zither and iPad, while intuitively singing captivating melodies. Joshua Crumbly brought the rhythm with his bass; Mikey Buishas crafted live tape loops and played keys; Mikel Patrick Avery, Jon Nellen, and Caleb Michel contributed with lively percussion; Adam Brisbin strummed the guitar; and Hannah Cohen, Alena Spanger, and June McDoom added beautiful background vocals. Alongside core members Adrianne, Buck, and James, this passionate group played together for nine hours a day. Double Infinity serves as a heartfelt archive of this creative play, brought to life by the skillful production, engineering, and mixing of longtime Big Thief collaborator Dom Monks.
“Double Infinity” reaches deep into the concepts of inner and outer worlds, portraying the body as a bridge between them. It explores the purgatory of the human brain, which tends to dwell on past or future moments, balancing the things we’ve lost against what we desire, and stepping between desire and regret. “Beauty speak to me, let me know you, let me see myself inside your mystery, through the crystal cage of aging.” It yearns for authentic beauty to reveal itself, rather than the conditioned ideas that society often portrays. At the intersection of “what is forming” and “what is fading,” between loss and gain, mourning and celebration, perhaps we can find solace in “the eye behind the essence, still, unmovable,” something that is “unchanging,” and exists outside the flow of time. Could this be love?
Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.
Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.
If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.
After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.
Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
Hold up… what were we saying?
