'10,000 Hz Legend' is the captivating third studio album by French music duo Air, released in the United States on May 29, 2001, by Astralwerks. This album features longer tracks with a more electronic vibe compared to their previous works. The duo explores new sounds and collaborates with artists like Beck and suGar Yoshinaga of Buffalo Daughter, enriching their musical journey. The album cover, created by Ito Morabito, beautifully showcases Monument Valley. While they became part of the late-'90s electronica wave largely due to the labels they worked with, their unique sound offers a relaxing twist on the classic disco, echoing influences from synthesizer pioneers like Tomita, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, as well as non-spiky new wave and hidden gems from Italian film soundtracks. Exciting reissues on heavyweight vinyl, remastered with original artwork, will soon be available from Rhino, celebrating their innovative artistry.

Rather than thinking of 10 000 Hz Legend as weirder than most Air albums, perhaps we should be considering the possibility that Air just flat-out make weird albums that often resemble something like 10 000 Hz Legend. It’s who they are, as much as it’s possible to define who Air actually “are,” and if that seems confusing, well: This music was never meant to be chewed over as much as it’s meant to be simply experienced. - Larry Fitzmaurice, Stereogram

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
