Mordechai is the third studio album from Houston trio Khruangbin, released in 2020 on Dead Oceans. Named after a globe-trotting friend whose stories inspired much of the record, the album marks a turning point for the band, with Laura Lee, Mark Speer, and DJ Johnson weaving vocals more prominently into their music for the first time.
The result is Khruangbin at their most expansive and inviting. "Time (You and I)" is a sun-drenched standout built on one of the most infectious basslines in their catalog, while "So We Won't Forget" is tender and cinematic, showing a more emotional side of the band.
