Chaz Bear, known to many as Bundick, has been surrounded by music since he was a child, growing up in a home filled with captivating sounds, from the iconic Michael Jackson to the legendary Elvis Costello and the vibrant tunes of The Specials. Being biracial in South Carolina, these diverse influences have beautifully shaped the unique blend of styles that Chaz interweaves into his work. His remarkable talent was recognized when he received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in 2020 for his collaboration with Flume on the hit track "The Difference." Chaz’s genre-defying sound has garnered him much-deserved critical acclaim, and his musical journey took off with early home recordings that highlighted his creativity. Impressively, he released over 10 standalone Toro y Moi albums before joining the Carpark Records family in 2009.
