Their debut full-length album for Run For Cover, titled 'This Place You Know,' offers a heartfelt story about growing up and navigating the familiar and the unfamiliar. Since forming in 2016, One Step Closer has quickly established itself as a key band in the modern hardcore scene, with members Ryan Savitski, Tommy Norton, Brian Talipan, Ross Thompson, and Grady Allen bringing their unique energy. Their 2019 EP ‘From Me To You’ showcased a more melodic side, inspired by bands like Turning Point and Title Fight. They’ve shared the stage with bands like Have Heart during legendary reunion shows, and toured with Knuckle Puck and Turnstile before focusing on creating their debut album. ‘This Place You Know’ explores powerful themes like isolation, depression, and loss, driven home by strong basslines, passionate guitar riffs, and steady drumming. Right from the beginning with “I Feel So,” the song sets the tone with the lyric ‘this place you know, sometimes it hides the truth and lets people go,’ reflecting the album’s heartfelt attempt to find peace amidst the pain of letting go of what once was.
