Food for Worms is a departure for shame, a celebration of life and friendship, drawing from eclectic influences and featuring producer Flood. The album documents the dynamic of five close friends who grew up together and was born out of a reconnection with the love of playing live. In 2018, after the tour's cancellation due to Steen's panic attacks, shame was confronted with who they'd become, leading to their second album, Drunk Tank Pink. The band's management challenged them to play two intimate shows and debut two sets of entirely new songs in three weeks, leading to the fast creation of Food for Worms. Recorded while playing festivals all over Europe, the album captures the live energy and lightning-in-a-bottle essence of shame.
