Big Thief – Two Hands is the earth twin to U.F.O.F., captured in a desert studio 30 miles west of El Paso. This vinyl record embodies the band’s most intimate, live-feeling approach, with songs performed live and almost no overdubs, letting Adrianne Lenker’s voice sit raw and suspended—unembellished and striking.

Recorded at the vast Sonic Ranch desert location, the scorching 105-degree heat stripped away lush surroundings and memories of the prior session, grounding the music in the bones beneath the earth. The result is a bare-bones collection that contrasts with the previous work, pulling listeners into a focused, live-energy moment.

Produced by Andrew Sarlo and engineered by Dom Monks, with Sarlo collaborating on the mix alongside James Krivchenia, the album presents bold, direct decisions in presentation while preserving the immediacy of the performances. Lyrically, the songs explore collective wounds and environmental concerns without preaching, inviting reflection and awakening.
