The Lemon Twigs’ previous two albums on Captured Tracks, 'A Dream Is All We Know' (2024) and 'Everything Is Harmony' (2023), marked a significant turning point in their five-album journey. “It was the start of making records that we genuinely love listening to," shares Michael D’Addario, now 26. By the time they released 'A Dream Is All We Know' and ‘My Golden Years," the Lemon Twigs had entered a new chapter. Their third album for Captured Tracks, 'Look For Your Mind!,' seems playful but hints at paranoia.
Opening with the lively title track, the album features guitar-rich harmonies reminiscent of 'A Dream Is All We Know' but clearer. Inspired by classic guitar pop with a fresh spirit, it introduces live musicians Reza Matin on drums and Danny Ayala on bass, a departure from the brothers' previous self-recordings, allowing more freedom. “Gather Round,” a joyful, orchestral track, emphasizes collective effort and feels both vintage and modern.
Brian’s “Fire And Gold” showcases a power pop riff and features Reza Matin’s debut. The vinyl's first side ends with Michael’s heartfelt ballad, “Mean To Me,” with vocals akin to The Beach Boys. The second side closes with “Your True Enemy,” which evolved from a simple rock song to something more experimental.
While continuing their sound, this sixth album also signifies a new chapter, blending past influences with innovative songwriting and collective creativity.
