Fruit Bats' Sub Pop debut, released in April 2003 and produced by Brian Deck. Mouthfuls is the album where Eric D. Johnson's folk-pop songwriting locked into something special. Built around Johnson and Gillian Lisée as a working duo, these ten tracks blend warm acoustics with psychedelic textures into songs that feel timeless without trying to be.

This is a special order item, not currently in stock. It ships separately from our distributor and is only available in the U.S. via USPS Media Mail. Free shipping offers are not valid on this item.

"When U Love Somebody" closes the record and became the band's signature song, written at the last minute in the style of Ray Davies and The Beatles' "Two of Us." "Magic Hour" and "Track Rabbits," both co-written with Lisée, are among the most personal moments here. "The Little Acorn" stretches past six minutes of layered, unhurried beauty, while "Rainbow Sign" opens with the kind of effortless melody that makes the whole album feel like a deep breath.

This pressing comes on mint green colored vinyl. A cornerstone of the 2000s indie folk movement.

Shipping
Orders typically ship within two business days. Media Mail might be budget-friendly, but it travels at a glacial pace and gets little love from the postal service. For faster, smoother delivery, choose USPS Priority or UPS/USPS Ground.

Returns
Unopened returns accepted within 30 days — you cover shipping.

If your record arrives damaged or folded (thanks, postal service), reach out ASAP so we can fix it.

After 30 days, it’s yours to keep forever.

Avoid extreme heat or sunlight. Definitely don’t let it mingle with any Justin Bieber records. Treat it like your grandma — gentle, respectful, and quiet during Murder, She Wrote.
