simon-garfunkel-gold-disc-japanese-vintage-vinyl
Simon & Garfunkel - Gold Disc - Japanese Vintage Vinyl

This Simon & Garfunkel collection comes from CBS/Sony's Gold Disc series, a line of Japan-only compilations that gathered an artist's essential songs onto a single LP. Released in 1978, it packs fourteen of the duo's best-loved recordings into one beautifully sequenced listen.

The first half opens with "The Sounds Of Silence" and "Mrs. Robinson", then moves through the gentle "April Come She Will", the defiant "I Am A Rock" and the joyful rhythm of "Cecilia". The second half begins with the soaring "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and continues with "Scarborough Fair / Canticle", "Homeward Bound", "The Boxer" and the closing road-trip poem "America". Paul Simon's songwriting and those close harmonies have rarely been gathered so neatly.

This is the Japanese edition, catalogue 26AP 1301, manufactured by CBS/Sony. Japanese pressings of the era are known for clean, quiet vinyl, which flatters the duo's delicate acoustic arrangements.

An easy place to start, or a lovely companion to the studio albums.

Media Condition: EX

Jacket Condition: VG+

OBI Strip Condition: EX

Additional Notes: Includes liner notes, Slight Scuff on Cover

Approximate Year: 1978

Side A
1.
