After the release of their 2020 album Don't Shy Away, the band members found themselves in different countries and entered a period of hibernation. But when Cross suggests regrouping in her home country of the UK, in a small stone house once used as a coffin-maker's workshop, the band jumps at the opportunity. With only minimal recording equipment and instruments, Loma transforms two simple rooms into a makeshift studio, using a padded coffin as a vocal booth.
