Half Waif - Mythopoetics Vinyl Record

 

Half Waif, also known as Nandi Rose, returns to ANTI Records for the latest release, Mythopoetics. This album delves into the journey of processing past traumas and finding a path towards healing and transformation. Through the vibrant artwork by Ali Cherkis, Rose expresses a range of emotions, from screaming in bright colors on the front to portraying a stoic expression on the back. With courage and catharsis, Rose breaks free from the generational patterns and instead plants a seed of hope, urging growth and change. Collaborating once again with multi-instrumentalist Zubin Hensler, the pair created a diverse and dynamic sonic universe in the recording residency at Pulp Arts in Gainesville, Florida. After 10 years, Rose has finally found her voice and confidently sings without conforming to anyone's expectations. Through her lead single "Swimmer," Rose uses her voice as a tool for communication and healing, particularly exploring the impact of Alzheimer's on a loved one.
