This was also the first record where all the songs were written by lead singer Robert Smith. This was the record that started the rise into the superstar status the band hold to this day. Close To Me was another huge hit that sent this record up music charts for the first time Internationally. Robert Smith has said he was inspired by Kaleidoscope by Siouxsie and the Banshees and by the record Dare by the Human League. The Cure Head On The Door vinyl charted in the US, UK, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, and Sweden. This is a classic 1980's record and is often covered by artists today and often is included on best of the decade lists released by critics.
