Joy's self-titled debut is where the band's warm, rootsy sound first came together. Singer Matt Quinn and guitarist Sam Cooper were high school friends from Philadelphia who reconnected in Los Angeles years later and named the band after Mount Joy in Valley Forge Park, close to where they grew up.

Released by Dualtone in 2018, the album mixes folk-rock storytelling with easygoing soul and a wry sense of humor. "Astrovan", a song that imagines Jesus driving an old van, caught fire online before the band had even released a record, and "Silver Lining" climbed to number one on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart. Songs like "Sheep", "Dirty Love" and "Younger Days" show off the harmonies and loose, lived-in grooves that made them festival favorites.

Fans of The Lumineers, Dr. Dog and Rayland Baxter will feel right at home.
